This is why beavers dam rivers\u2014in order to stop the flow of water. When beavers build dams, the result is a varied ecosystem that provides ideal conditions for waterfowl, insects, and beavers. Beavers are also found in large lakes and rivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-river-otters-in-washington\">River Otters in Washington<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h-river-otters-in-washington\">River otters are native throughout Washington state and are active in Lake Washington. River otters can tolerate various climates and environments, making homes in both warm and cold locations as well as at differing elevations.
